Welcome to the Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

Categorized under Guerra | Tags:

A FAVORITE ARTIST, Ben Harper, says "Welcome to the Cruel World." And on days when I wake up and am unfortunate enough to hear these putos yank their jaws sideways about the Iraq Travesty of Harm and Destruction and United States Greed, I think to myself "Welcome to the Mad World."

Welcome to a world where one nation can simply decide to rain bombs upon a basically defenseless nation, kill as many people as they want, occupy it for half a decade, instigate chaos that claims the lives of half a million people, and then (as if that's not enough!) pretend to be civilized and thoughtful enough to discuss their right and duty to protect those people and help them become stable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And we're taught to take this seriously. We're encouraged to go mad. Instead of screaming at the top of our lungs, quitting our jobs, filling the streets and rejecting the entire murderous and sleazy system until it truly represents our will and earns our cash and sweat; instead of refusing to cosign this horrific, criminal venture and keeping our sanity and moral ground, we're encouraged to act as if we are righteous and reasonable, encouraged to twist ourselves into a cognitive dissonance that eschews all the basic requirements of humanity. Shamed and pressured into this pretense of being civilized while we destroy and reshape in our own image an entire other civilization for the sake of our own fuel.

No matter how many of them or us we have to kill to do it. Just keep shopping, baby. No matter what, just keep shopping. And welcome, child. Welcome to the mad, mad, mad, mad world.

Now. Paper or plastic?

You know, this could explain a few things for me. I'm obviously very sane and the world is indeed mad. Maybe if I sing in hallways and skip down the street enough, people will wonder why they don't try to create pockets of happiness.

Speaking of happiness, Oregon is a strange place!

Funny thing that one of my favorite songs of all time is Crazy by Seal and The End of the Innocence by Don Henley (The Eagles). Put them together and they would make a great soundtrack for the last 8 years.

Great shit, 'mano. So true. All them official words being spoken from high places in our society are a complete joke and an insult to semi-consciousness.

Ya know, when I was but a confused little 20-year-old flail-muppet, my Buddhist mentor told me, "This is a dark age, the world is upside-down. So don't go along with the world, make yourself right-side-up." The more years have passed, the more I see it and feel it. The world is loud, so be quiet inside. The world is violent, so be peaceful inside. The world worships consumption, so worship creation. The world teaches selfishness, so be selfless. The world is dogmatic, so be fluid. The world is full of deception, so be truthful. For me, so far, it's the only way to be sane.

feelings are the same here...it IS a mad mad world - sigh...we need to change the characters behind the scenes...and replace them with people who care about people and not just money.

if you got some time - like a few hours - take a watch at this video - it explains a bunch.

I'm not just selling my hobby horse du jour, I mean it: this is the abuse paradigm. First you destroy someone, then you say that they, this poor disabled person, needs your charitable help.
