Banking on Denial

Categorized under Hipnotismo , Política Estados Unidos , Race for '08 | Tags: , , , , ,

HILLARY CLINTON plays a dangerous game. She uses her supporters—who believe in her so much that they refuse to see she is a calculating politician—to cover her crooked technique. Don't get me wrong, of course Obama is a calculating politician too. I don't think he is some beautiful pure child unstained by power plays or agenda or strategy. He uses different moves, but he sure ain't throwin' elbows like Hillary.

Regardless, the way some hardcore Clinton people speak lately, you'd think the woman can do no wrong. And that she is just continually saying things that outrage all these Colored Folk by accident overandoveragain! Poor woman. Poor besieged, misunderstood hero-woman. She is just trying to save Democracy, and look at how hard it is for her with all this terrible HillaryHate. It's like...it's like...it's like we are pushing her to the back of the electoral bus. Or something.

Maybe Obama should take a page from the Clinton playbook and say things like "of course Clinton shouldn't drop out! Geraldine Ferraro was allowed to run until the people rejected her!" And then he could come on TV and claim it was only historical fact. And apologize...to Walter Mondale.

Clinton knows she can drop race-tainted depth charges into these political churning waters and most of her supporters will leap up and scream that they are not depth charges, but instead are gold coins from the HIllary Rainbow. They will get all wild, running around bellowing "Oh, the Obama people are pulling race cards and painting our poor hero with this tarry brush of hate!"

You are being used. Sorry.

Hillary Clinton is banking all these sly shots in a zone where denial steps aside and leaves the net wide open. She uses the power of the listener's own mind to hide her intention. She enlists the denial that Good People Employ so that they don't have to admit the hard realities of racism. She encourages blindness. She urges you to go along with this voice of denial while she moves this string just so, and this wedge just so. Always remaining hidden to the mind that already doesn't want to see certain things. As long as you refuse to buy into the idea that what the "AAs" (this is what some sites now reduce blacks to??) have to say on these things might matter, she wins each and every encounter. She is clearly a master of her game. And she plays you. Because that is a long-running tendency in our nation. Those are the voices we are very used to discounting, hey? But she doesn't know anything about that.

As a player, I have mad respect for her smarts. (Not to mention disgust at her character.) But just a bit of pity for her marks. As well as a sadness for this ploy foisted upon our nation.

On one hand we have a candidate who believes we can move beyond such wedges and stop feeding such loathsome blights upon the heart of our citizenry...and on the other we have a candidate banking on the fact that we won't want to, and all while at the same time being told we are supporting a new "civil rights" type effort. Devious.

Of course she is quite quick to insulate herself from hard criticism that comes her way behind a "girl being beat up on by boys" defense, whether it be directly spoken, or guised in a "New Women's Suffrage" shape.

I hope you don't wonder why I recoil at this person's methods. (And this modernized political version of the Scarem-Carom really pushed my feelings into a new area, I have to admit.) This type of perversion of truth, to me, actually is "evil." Greed or selfishness or powerlust and duplicity perverted to appear as benevolence is evil. Period. It's not a slip, it's not happenstance, it's planned, and it's effective, and it's Wrong.

And guess what? The duplicity I dont attribute at all to her womanity. I attribute it to the thirst for power. Something that resides in all of us, black, white, golden, brown, peach, female, and male and otherwise human.

Choice excerpt:

...We have forgiven you your insistence that there have been widespread calls for you to end your campaign, when such calls had been few.

We have forgiven you your misspeaking about Martin Luther King's relative importance to the Civil Rights movement.

We have forgiven you your misspeaking about your under-fire landing in Bosnia.

We have forgiven you insisting Michigan's vote wouldn't count and then claiming those who would not count it were Un-Democratic.

We have forgiven you pledging to not campaign in Florida and thus disenfranchise voters there, and then claim those who stuck to those rules were as wrong as those who defended slavery or denied women the vote.

We have forgiven you the photos of Osama Bin Laden in an anti-Obama ad...

We have forgiven you fawning over the fairness of Fox News while they were still calling you a murderer.

We have forgiven you accepting Richard Mellon Scaife's endorsement and then laughing as you described his "deathbed conversion."

We have forgiven you quoting the electoral predictions of Boss Karl Rove.

We have forgiven you the 3 a.m. Phone Call commercial.

We have forgiven you President Clinton's disparaging comparison of the Obama candidacy to Jesse Jackson's.

We have forgiven you Geraldine Ferraro's national radio interview suggesting Obama would not still be in the race had he been a white man.

We have forgiven you the dozen changing metrics and the endless self-contradictions of your insistence that your nomination is mathematically probable rather than a statistical impossibility.

We have forgiven you your declaration of some primary states as counting and some as not.

We have forgiven you exploiting Jeremiah Wright in front of the editorial board of the lunatic-fringe Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

We have forgiven you exploiting William Ayers in front of the debate on ABC.

We have forgiven you for boasting of your "support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans"...

We have even forgiven you repeatedly praising Senator McCain at Senator Obama's expense, and your own expense, and the Democratic ticket's expense.

But Senator, we cannot forgive you this.

... Because a senator - a politician - a person - who can let hang in mid-air the prospect that she might just be sticking around in part, just in case the other guy gets shot - has no business being, and no capacity to be, the President of the United States.

Word.

For quite a while I thought that precisely the only mathematical reason that Hillary might have for continuing would be an assassination. As sicko as that is, there isn't any other logical explanation, so at least she finally fessed up.
What I want to know is how long will the Party allow Hillary to be the Pooper?
I hope she does a walking tour in my little town here in PR this weekend. I'll be screaming at her in Spanish and English. She's what we call a Sin Verguenza. She's the poster child for why people REALLY despise politicians.
DEMOCRATIC PARTY LEADERS -- WTF??? Get the damn hook out and drag her off the stage. Strap her onto a gurney already. Get a hypodermic with a sedative into a vein. Has there ever been another Presidential primary candidate as maudlin and egocentric as Hillary? PLEASE STOP THE SHOW, PULL THE PLUG. Even in PR, world capital of pathetic candidacies that continue on right through the tragic and go past the hilarious, even here, she is unique. Do we have to suffer and continue to watch this? When will it be over? She doesn't deserve to be a dog catcher at this point and her Party ALSO does not deserve to represent itself as worthy of the public trust if this is the kind of person they allow to represent them. This is way past embarrassing. This is purely shameless. Sin Verguenza.

kick it, ése.
