I think that another reason for the high gas prices is mobility. People can't descend on DC (or the conventions) if they can't afford the gas to get there

If you can't tell, I don't have a car. And I was thinking, does this mean that the price of gas is influencing the cost of food? The worst part is that the farmer's market near my place is really expensive, and now that I'm attempting to clean up my debt, things are getting tighter. Sigh.

Meep, the price of gas influences the price of anything which needs to be transported in a gas-powered vehicle; which of course includes food; particularly the price of diesel, because that's what trucks run on.
