HORMIGUEROS, Puerto Rico (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton on Sunday offered a slightly hallucinatory defense for continuing her presidential campaign as she sought to put to rest the uproar over her comments about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.

"I just refuse to admit I understand what is going on," Clinton said. "You see, despite all my accomplishments, I'm actually very stupid. I have absolutely no understanding of history and racial conflict in this nation. I'm totally out of touch with the anxieties and conversations in the communities of color, and no amount of stories or outrage from the black community will make me reflect on this. That's just the kind of leader I am! And if you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen, I say!"

The senator's comments reference the fact that while most people see her discussing assassination in the context of this particular election year as tasteless at best, and amoral at worst, the graduate of Harvard Law pretends not to understand. She scoffed at the idea of pushback from the black community on her recent statement.

"It's not really that important to me. I'm for the hardworking, you know, what some elitists derogatorily call the 'racists' of this nation." At this, the senator hunched over and made clawing motions in the air with two fingers from each hand as she sneered into the crowd.

"I don't really want to spend much time with the 'AAs'." Clinton sounded relieved to finally admit it. "The day they painted me with the race card, they were dead to me."

The senator paused to point to an imaginary person in the crowd and smiled widely.

"We Love You!" the imaginary supporter might have said, were they real.

"Remember," she said, before leaving the stage, "You can donate toward my style of politics at hillaryclinton.com, or to the person who will soon be the Democratic nominee at Barack Obama's site."

Sometimes she confuses the fuck out of me.

My mother and I were just talking about what she had said, and it just makes no sense. I personally think she's cracking.

I get the joke Nez, but if you lived in PR and had heard some of the incredibly ignorant and absurd political speeches that have been made here over the years by PR politicians, you might not believe your senses. I am sure Rafa knows what I am talking about. Augusto Sanchez is one guy that comes to mind, but there are so many others.

I stopped reading the newspapers or watching the local news. They are to painful to watch.

I read the papers, Rafa, to know what is the latest scheme the politicos are marinading. It's self defense. I also need to have something fresh to say to them when I run into one of them on the malecon in Vieques. They all show up there sooner or later. They're usually very shocked that a 55 year old white North American is making nasty comments to them in Spanish. Once, I was on a job at Martineau Bay and I turned around and De Castro Font was next to me. I told him since he had now been in trouble with all the Parties maybe it was time he just became an anarchist. He was wearing his usual awful haircut too. My friend who owned the building started to get very pale as he knows my commentary hobby.
The point is: I have to keep up with these fools. BTW, I used to live in Luquillo and Sanchez not only represented me but was my neighbor. I've worked with and for the wealthy {they have the money} since I got to PR in 1979 so I have many stories.

I wish I had seen that! My mom and dad fill me in on the details now and again and I peruse the only version of El Nuevo Dia and Primera Hora (don't ask).

Ha Ha I liked the part where she bent over and clawed at the crowd and then pointed and smiled at the imaginary person
