Last Day for Oregon to Vote in Primary!

Categorized under Acción , Política Estados Unidos , Race for '08 | Tags: , , ,

AS OREGON'S OFFICIAL MTV Street Team Rep. and all-around virtual dawn street crier, it falls upon me now to type out this message—OREGON: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to take your ballot and get thee to an official drop! Drive and be counted! Don't let Nader get elected due to your apathy! (Trust me, he'll find a way on that ballot, and just to spite you, Oregon!)

I remember the first year I was here and saw the ballot dropboxes. I had never heard of a "mail-in" election before. It seemed so relaxed to me. Well, yeah. Until I saw the dropboxes on the evening of May 20. Whoa. I think of it more as "drive-through" voting now.

While I'm at it, another fun thing to do is watch a visitor to the state pull up at a gas station and realize s/he is not allowed to touch the gas pumps. That's always good for a few moments of laughter. Mmmm. Protracted bouts of laughter in a cloud of benzene. Now I'm really feelin' patriotic.

Stay tuned. I'm shooting today and editing tonight. If I can pull it all together proper-like, I'll have a short video up tomorrow, a Nezualicious reflection of Oregon's last day of voting in this historic election year.

CBS News estimates that Obama has won 1,606 pledged delegates - leaving him just 21 short of a majority of the 3,253 pledged delegates up for grabs. He is sure to cover the gap in Tuesday's primaries even if he does not win either state, because the delegates are allocated proportionately.

Of the 800 superdelegates, about a quarter of them have not declared support for either candidate. On Monday, Obama picked up six more superdelegates. Clinton added none.
