Stand for Sane Discussions and Against FOX News

Categorized under Violencia | Tags: ,

ONCE, WHEN I WAS ABOUT 14 and in line to get on a plane—and mind you, this was 15 or 16 years before the WTC demolitions and subsequent paranoia that still grips our nation—I joked with a friend standing next to me, after we had passed the metal detectors. I said "I guess they didn't find my gun."

I thought it was a pretty funny joke. The Airport Security people did not share my sense of humor. They yanked me out of line and pushed me in front of a sign that said EVEN JOKING ABOUT WEAPONS, VIOLENCE, ETC IS PUNISHABLE BY and I don't remember the rest.

There is a reason that free speech is limited at times. And usually this has to do with people's safety or right to live and pursue a life of liberty, happiness, etc.

I understand that Ms. Trotta is working in a vile environment that encourages this sentiment. I know she roped in Osama to the A-word joke to cover her own feelings of embarrassment at using the "wrong" name and in doing the quick-step improv, accidentally divulged the official FOX sentiments on Obama.

I also feel that there is NO place in a professional pundit or otherwise any media person or public speaker to encourage thoughts or ideas that Ms. Trotta has. Ideas that Mrs. Clinton has introduced to our discourse. I'd love to see HRC fired for her statement. Because this kind of tactic and talk only stirs up and ultimately encourages hate and violence.

But that won't happen. So join me and please sign this petition to have Liz Trotta of FOX "News" fired. We need to highlight FOX "News" and their vile ideology and practicies, and we need to send a message that there are consequences to joking about murdering a public figure, and especially one who is running for President of the United States of America.

Gracias a M, Blackwomenblowthetrumpet, SheCodes, and others. See this post for full credits and YouTube video of Trotta.

I'm pretty sure that under Federal statutes her action was a crime. Perhaps the fastest route to eliminating the influence of these individuals is to not tune in to that channel or just stop watching TV altogether. I know that sounds like some kind of suggestion out of Candide, so, sorry.

oh i agree. i dont even have TV programming. tho if i could pick a station or two selectively, i'd probalby subscribe. they dont do that yet.

i still figure sending a message is good. this kind of thing has to be nipped early.

I wish I could run for the office of official slapper. I would get elected after showing off my slapping skills to the rapt electorate and then, hand in fine glove, I would visit the offenders and with a quick left right slap, they would be duly chastened. Oh, if I ruled the world!
