Summoning Us to Greatness

Categorized under Política Estados Unidos , Race for '08 | Tags: , ,

I'M RATHER DISAPPOINTED that the Clintons will not be moving back into La Casa Blanca. After all, it would have been great to have Hillary as President. I could have proudly pointed both my daughters to her and show them how a strong and smart woman should act in this world. I'd say "remember to slam alcohol to make people like you," and of course, "change the sound of your voice to make people around you think you belong" and "when challenged by competition, make up stories about how brave you are." Another good lesson she would embody for tomorrow's women is "violence, especially obliteration, is a key to getting along." And we can't forget the great skill of relying on people's fear of muslims and invalidating achievements of African Americans—very handy tools for anyone who wants to lead in this multicultural world of ours.

When Hillary reminded us that amidst all of today's problems and conflicts we need "a President who is going to summon us to greatness again," she was so right. Clearly, the people have heard her message and responded.

I'm disappointed that Hillary didn't try to do a Dukakis and address us in Spanish. Whoever heard of an election without pandering to us latinos in Spanish? Where were the candidates on "Cinco De mayo" with the mariachis etc?

This was always my favorite cheesy standby. Instead we got McCain (mr English as official language) doing a website in Spanish. That's just weak.

I know. Hillary could have been the One You Want to Slurp a Margarita With! But all she gave us was this crock.

Yeah, I've been meaning to post on McCain's site. Jeez.

Bueno,

there's always the hope that Chelsea will some day pick up the mantle. I understand her charisma rivals that of her pa...

Abrazos a todos.

i'm sure, should chelsea choose the political route, she will be formidable. how could she not, in that family? what training! altho personally, i'd like to see a non-clinton pull it off. i'm sure many women have been emboldened to run by HRCs run, and that is fantastic.

i'd be happy if i saw not another bush or clinton in the white house, myself.

the irony is that there are women presidents all over this content-- one is a pediatrician too ( nice trick!) and yanquis are the slowest to accept the possibilities...

Rhode Islanders freak out at the chance to elect a woman as governor...

But NO ONE wants another Margaret Thatcher or Golda Meir...!

...well, we know from that patron of masculinity and leadership, General J.C., how threatening the feminine are/is...

yes, another irony at work: the USA with her massively painful and divisive legacy of slavery seems poised to be one of the few (first?) majority white nations to "accept the possibility" of a black man being President!

It's at times like this Nez, vis a vis your irony comment, that I think maybe there is a God or Goddess, or even some Divine Committee and someone there has a devilish sense of humor!
I think that Committee was appointed around late 1999. They're toying with all of us US citizens, left and right.
