The Hillary Doll

I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU WORK, but my feelings on All Things Hillary are not simplified into one single "hate" mode, as with some supporters of both sides. I do not like Hillary as a politician, I never have, since the days of her bid for New York rep., a state I have lived in longer than any other. And I do not think she is the person for this White House, nor do I approve of her methods of campaigning.
BUT. I have another vein of thought and feeling, in which are the girls and women who feel HRC's run represents a larger struggle. All of my respect is with them and how they feel at this time. I've met them up close (of which this video shows yet another incident), and their pride and hope is infectious. Aside from that, I have daughters and I have a mother and many female friends and heroes and even one or two I nearly idolize with reverence. I've seen the effects of abuse and misogyny on women close to me since a young age. Too much of this type of stain lies upon too much of the planet, and women rising to power is long overdue.
To some, my support of Obama in the face of this may seem at odds with this, but only if you think so simplistically on it to think that support for Hillary equals supporting women's rights. It does not, despite what she has taken to saying lately. Nor does it absolve one of participating in bringing a world about that is fair to women. Just as voting for or supporting Obama does not "take care of" the anti-racist work that needs to be done round these parts. Nor does opposing him necessarily equal racist motivation or action.
It is with this background I hope you understand the making of this video. We only hear the HIllary Nutcracker referenced by women angry at its creation. I get that. But here is a woman taking the matter by the sack and appropriating the hate and flipping it right back. And you know I can appreciate that. Thus the energy of the chant, and the tribute to her fans. And the title on the YouTube page that hosts the video. Some nuts do need cracking. (Perhaps the maker of the Hillary Nutcracker fears his own candidacy? I can only assume a man made the item. Perhaps I should not.) So here's to the women who know how to take care of bizness.
I guess the video falls outside the usual type of video made when connected to such subject matter. I don't offer the video in support of Hillary, and definitely not as a piece that could be used against her (clearly, it cannot). The political campaign in the world of this video is a "macguffin." Assumed, integral, but a means of highlighting something else. This video is offered simply as a supportive laugh at this featured elderly woman's happiness and her fuego, and, sure, to report a tiny piece of news in the process.
Watch XOLAGRAFIK for more, soon.
