The Spirit of Baghdad Bob Returns

THE CLINTON CAMP looks forward to VICTORY!!!!!

“We’re still fighting hard to be the nominee,” Mr. McAuliffe said. “We’re looking for a big win here in Puerto Rico.”

When asked if Mrs. Clinton would suspend her campaign if Mr. Obama clinched the nomination this week, Mr. McAuliffe said that he rejected the premise of the question.

—The Day After, Clinton Aides Push Delegate Fight

The premise is that the person answering the question be living, even momentarily, in a world where possibilities other than Clinton = Win even exist!

Seriously, McAuliffe, Ickes (I notice HRC isn't saying much?), the entire Clinton Campaign reminds me a lot of Baghdad Bob at this point. Remember him? He was the Iraqi shouting above the Shocking and Awesome clouds of disintegrated Baghdad streets that American forces were being defeated in massive numbers. Totally defiant and hallucinatory til the end. I bet he'd even go toe to toe with W.C. Fields. I mean, come on. You have to admit that screwball's spirit in the face of it all was right on! Who didn't admire that guy? Sure, you wondered if he was in touch with reality at all. But he was a real scrapper. I miss him.

Like Rocky. On acid.
