I'd like to add "So Far From God" by Ana Castillo.
"The Course of Mexican History" is
an excellent book. I am currenty reading "The Mexican Revolution"
by Adolfo Gilly, which is disjointed at times, but it is an
analytical text that is comparable to Howard Zinn's "A
People's History of the United States." —l.b. |

One of the best books I read
this year was 1491 by Charles Mann. A very
interesting and well documented look at the Americas prior to

Fuentes' 'The Years With Laura Diaz' a few
days ago and
this post contains many of the same ideas he put forth in
